This incorporates a patient’s gaze dynamics into their diagnosis creating a fully personalized
progressive lens with optimal acuity. Gaze dynamics is determined by the relationship between the eye and head movements that we naturally make when looking at objects in the environment.  Historically, progressive lenses have not had the ability to consider the way a person’s eyes work at various distances, forcing the patient to adapt to the lens and move within predetermined corridors.?Unity Via Elite VR adds complete gaze dynamic data to inform the lens design even further and adjusts the corridor to align with the way the individual uses their eyes, to provide natural vision in an individually crafted lens and optimizes the corridor and minimize lateral aberrations.

The mapping consists of a brief 3-minute VR experience to create a precise, custom progressive lens based on how you use your eyes for distance, computer and reading. This helps patients with adaptation providing a more natural progressive lens wearing experience.

Dr. Castillo’s Explanation: Prior progressive lens technology typically involves a preset “map” or “pattern” that all wearers must use and adapt to. We are limited only adjust the “height” of the lenses to the wearer. The new VR Progressive lens technologies creates a unique, customized “map” so that the progressive lens prescription is built around your visual gazes measured by the VR headset.

The jump and improvement in technology is akin to a flip phone vs smartphone, where the design is so custom and advanced. Wearers have reported little to no adaptation to the new VR progressive lenses and report seeing similar to a single vision lens but in progressive format thus providing clear vision at distance, computer and near.
