MYOPIA CONTROL CLINIC

We are wholly involved in the revolutionary efforts worldwide in managing myopia (nearsightedness) with patient-centered treatment options to slow the progression of myopia based on the latest advances in research.
Myopia control is important because it may help reduce the risk of vision-threatening complications associated with high myopia later in life — including glaucoma, cataracts, retinal detachment and even blindness.
By 2050, it’s predicted that 50% of the population will have myopia, with 10% having high levels of myopia (>-5.00D); creating a potential major public health crisis. Research shows that there are ways to delay the onset and manage the progression of myopia, giving better visual outcomes for the children with myopia and who are at risk for myopia progression.
Our optometrists are highly trained and qualified to provide solutions to slow the progression of myopia in your child with the use of specialty contact lenses that are comfortable, allow your child to see without glasses all while slowing the progression of nearsightedness. We are certified to fit FDA approved, MiSight daily contact lenses.

INITIAL EXAMINATION & CONSULTATION

A comprehensive eye exam is needed to evaluate your candidacy by reviewing your prescription, eye health and review risk factors for myopia progression such as any diopter changes in prescription, age, family history of nearsightedness in order to determine if you are a good candidate for myopia control. If our optometrists find that you may be a good candidate for myopia control, we will then schedule an initial fitting appointment.

INITIAL FITTING & TRAINING

Your optometrist will dilate you in order to obtain an accurate prescription and then choose and evaluate the right set of contact lenses and prescription for you and assess for proper fitting of the lenses and visual acuity. Our technicians will also train you on how to properly insert, remove and clean the contacts. This appointment may take at least an hour.

CONTACT LENS TRIAL PERIOD

We will reassess the fit and vision of your contact lenses after finding the proper lenses right for your eyes. The prescription may be finalized at this point.

MYOPIA MANAGEMENT VISITS

Numerous follow-up visits will be determined by your optometrist to reevaluate the progression of myopia throughout the year.
