There is a new product on the market called, iColour, that claims to lighten the color of your eyes naturally.
Is there any truth or validity to this?
The answer is no. There is no FDA-approved drug that can effectively change the color of your eyes. The color of your eyes have to do with genetics. Products labeled as “cosmetic” do not go through any stringent FDA approval process nor is backed by evidence-based science.
Eye color is determined by the amount of melanin in your iris. If you have a lot of melanin, your eyes will be darker shades of brown, while if you have very little, your eyes will be blue.
Fun fact: We all start off with blue eyes! The amount of melanin will determine your final eye color.
If you have a lot of melanin, that means your eyes are dark brown, while if you have very little, your eyes will be blue.
We suspect that this will be pulled from the market if they continue to market it with such bold and false claims as to changing one’s eye color.
